Male broad-tailed hummingbird [Selasphorus platycercus] feeding on Siberian peashrub [Caragana arborescens] blossoms.
More wildflowers.
Don't even have to leave the yard.
But pretty soon I hope to be chasing the blooming flowers up the hill, as Spring reaches the higher elevations.
Birds
Bald Eagles nesting.
Goslings.
Red-winged Blackbird.
Meadowlark.
Deer
With the herbaceous plants going gangbusters, the deer have been frequent visitors to the yard.
New set of antlers coming in.
See ya! Deer can easily clear a six-foot high fence from a standing start.
May Flowers
The first day of Spring in the northern hemisphere was March 20th, over six weeks ago, but today is the first time it really feels like Spring here at almost 7000 ft MSL. It looks like Spring, too - lots of wildflowers are showing themselves.
Some of the shapes left over from last year are still beautiful, too.
