Hobart Sunrise & Lady Nelson
The replica of Lady Nelson alongside the Elizabeth Street Pier in Hobart Harbor, Tasmania.
The original Lady Nelson sailed from Portsmouth, England in March 1800 and arrived in Sydney in December. She initially surveyed southern Australia, Tasmania, and the Bass Strait that lies between Tasmania and the Australian mainland. She was lost in unknown circumstances in 1825 while on a mission to Timor to acquire fresh provisions for a new settlement at Fort Dundas in what is now the Northern Territories of Australia.
The replica was built near Hobart to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the European settlement of Australia and was launched in 1987. She is available for charter.
