Pasque Flower - Pulsatilla patens

Another harbinger of Spring.  As the first crocuses fade, the Pasque Flowers come in.  Unfortunately, these particular ones will have only two days in the sun before they likely get clobbered by a winter storm forecast to dump a couple of feet of snow on the Front Range of the Rockies over this weekend.

There's little doubt that we'll still have some wintry weather here in the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, but there is also no doubt that when Crocuses make their appearance, Spring is climbing up into the hills.

The trail from the Wild Basin Trailhead [at left on the map view which looks from north to south, and at right in the elevation profile] rises from 2589 m [8,494 ft] to 3340 m [10,958 ft] over a length of about 6.4 miles to Bluebird Lake [at right on the map].
